What's New in Chromeleon 6.8

Release 6.8 further increases Chromeleon® capabilities, with support for even more instruments (now totaling over 260 models from more than 26 manufacturers), innovative features for UltiMate™ 3000 HPLC systems, and enhancements to System Suitability, Trending, 3-D Amperometry, and more.

Innovative Features for UltiMate 3000 HPLCs

  • SmartStartup automates startup and equilibration tasks for UltiMate 3000 systems, minimizing labor and errors. Startup can be scheduled so that instruments are ready for use when the operator arrives, or the system can be set to start analyses automatically as soon as the instrument is ready.
  • SmartShutdown simplifies and standardizes shutdown procedures, and helps prevent common errors like shutting off a system that has a buffer solution in the flow path.
  • Qualification Management warns regulated labs when instruments will soon need requalification, and prevents operators from running analyses on unqualified instruments.
  • Predictive Performance provides early notification when wear parts (such as piston seals, UV lamps, and valve rotors) will be needing replacement.
  • Dual Analysis support lets UltiMate 3000 dual systems share the column chamber and autosampler, reducing capital costs and facilitating parallel analyses, tandem analyses, and 2-dimensional chromatography.
  • Wizard for On-Line Solid-Phase Extraction simplifies setup of control instructions for HPLC applications involving preconcentration and/or matrix elimination.

New Data Analysis and Reporting Features

  • System Suitability Testing now offers automated signal-to-noise ratio calculations, range (variation) of any parameter, rounding control for Pass/Fail determinations, and new Aggregate Tables for system suitability reports.
  • Trending has expanded Control Charting capabilities that make it easy to track virtually any variable, with different control limits for different analytes.
  • 3-D Amperometry, a new detection technique introduced with Chromeleon 6.7, has been enhanced with capabilities that facilitate study and comparison of I-t plots (analogous to spectra in UV detection).
  • Average Response Factor Calibration, a calibration technique required by some legacy analytical methods, is now explicitly supported.

Other New Features

  • Database Installation Qualification (DBIQ) verifies that the database tables and indices are correctly configured, and complements the Datasource Performance Qualification (DSPQ) that was introduced with Chromeleon 6.7.
  • System Status Report, a new utility program, provides a convenient way to collect, package, and e-mail a comprehensive “snapshot” file of a Chromeleon installation. Report options include Database IQ and Datasource PQ, instrument configuration, drivers and services, symbol tables, log files, audit trails, and even specific sequences and/or directories.
  • Virtual Column™ now models over 20 Dionex columns, including AS20 (isocratic), AS11-HC and AS16 (gradient), and CS17 (isocratic and gradient).
  • New conditional operators (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE) allow easy development of advanced instrument control programs.
  • IC Qualification Procedures include a new Eluent Generator test, and now allow multiple detector types (CD, ED, UV) to be qualified in a single batch run.
